Go Reds! Ballpark Casserole On the Menu!

Psychotic Cincinnati weather and the Cincinnati Reds have provoked this week’s menu to offer a mix of comfort food and spring offerings. Floyd the Psycho Pug cannot get ENOUGH of being outside, enjoying the crisp air, sunshine, and WIND…his nose has been working overtime the past few days!  The sunshine and air has made me want to fire up the grill, and baseball season dictates just THAT – our Ballpark Casserole with Beer Basted Grilled Mets, Brats, Sweet Peppers & Onions mixed in with Roasted Potatoes and a layer of CHEEEEEESE.  I’ve taken my memories of stadium food from Cincinnati and Chicago and melded the two – mixing Italian Beef condiments with our Germanic sausages.  You trust me, right?!?  You SHOULD by now!
Easter kinda put me in the mood for some Truffled Egg Salad, and brunchy quiche offerings: Smoked Salmon & Gournay with Tomato, and Chorizo & Sweet Pepper.  As an aside, I wrote a really fun blog a couple of years ago at Easter time about eggs & Easter traditions – you can access it here.

Of course that’s not all…check out the menu  to see what surprises await: Chicken Poppyseed Casserole is back and we’re using up all the spring asparagus we can find in our Shrimp & Asparagus Risotto (beautiful pic below).

We’ve got the windows open airing out the stale winter air, just in time to put the heat back on again… life is good – I hope you’ll be able to safely enjoy your friends and family this Easter Season!

Creole Shrimp ‘n Grits, House Smoked BBQ and More!

You PEOPLE are so demanding I have to put VERY recent offerings back on the menu… 🙂  You have REQUIRED Hanky Panky Stew and Chicken Pesto Tortellini again this week, and Lula has acquiesced!   And just let me say that if you didn’t order the Lamb Ragu you will have a chance again in the near future as it was FABULOUS.  If you’ve not tried lamb, this is the perfect introduction.  If you have tried it and like it, don’t miss my version of this ragu when it becomes available again.

In the meantime, our creamy, rich, and yet light Creole Shrimp ‘n Grits is PERFECT for brunch or dinner, and you can find it on this menu along with my fabulous house smoked Pulled Pork (see pic below) with your choice of Lula’s KBB (Kentucky Black Bourbon) or Carolina 24K Gold Sauce, along with Daddy’s Cole Slaw or Maytag Bleu Slaw  I keep trying out names for my South Carolina BBQ Sauce – if you’ve something catchy to offer, HELP!

Our Protein Salads, Soups, and Quiches this week reflect what’s popping up from the ground – take advantage of the asparagus while it’s young and tender!  Always, ALWAYS there will be quiche…check out the menu to see what surprises await!

I’m on my way to my 2nd shot, and I’m wearing sandals.  Life is good – I hope you’ll be able to safely enjoy your friends and family this Easter Season!

This is how we enjoy our smoked pulled pork at my house: a grilled onion bun, coleslaw, and some TEXAS PETE for zing, along with either of Lula’s fantastic BBQ sauces.

Love, it’s What’s for Dinner!

Happy St. Patty’s Day!  I hope you’ve got your green on.  Those who ordered from my menu certainly have.  Interestingly, a couple of people clamored for my Chicken Penne Pesto this week, and it’s green too!  I’m offering it this week with an alternative if you just can’t get enough cheeeeeeese- with cheese tortellini.  Quite frankly, this is my favorite way to enjoy it – our creamy luscious homemade pesto, with basil from our garden put up last summer, on top of more creamy luscious tortellini filled with ricotta, parmesan and herbs.

You can find the Chicken Pesto on our menu along with my fabulous Lamb Ragu made from the delectable silky shoulder.  It’s deep in flavor with tomato and veggie overtones, served with your choice of Saffron & Chive Polenta or Roasted Garlic Smashed Potatoes.

Our Buffalo Chicken Salad was a hit so it’s back, along with a fresh lemony Egg Salad – both perfect to pair with one of our soups – Sherried Wild Mushroom Bisque or Loaded Baked Potato.  Always, ALWAYS there will be quiche…check out the menu to see what surprises await!

The birds ARE nesting and the warmth of the sun has kissed my skin.   I am wishing for all that with the passage of each day, we feel safer and more love than ever before!

It IS Easy Being Green with our St. Patty’s Day Menu !

I’m shaking it up a bit and not offering my Soda Bread or Rhubarb Pie (both extremely Irish) for St. Patty’s Day, and since my Guiness Stew can be had any time of year there’s no point to that either.  I’m having some fun with the color green this year. What you’re looking at is Lula’s South American Avocado Soup – so velvety and yummy with a hint of spice that’ll tickle the back of your throat.  Our Cream of Asparagus is a great fit too as it’s Asparagus season! This soup is delicate and elegant. Quiche is GREEN EGGS AND HAM!  No truly green eggs; just lots of green veggies.  Let’s just say “through the garden” minus the green pepper.  There is SO. MUCH. MORE. Click our take-out/delivery St. Patty’s Day menu and find your favorite green food, from our fabulous Curried Chicken Salad to Spinach Pie.  Oh!  If you love New Orleans flavors, I’ve included my Creole Chicken & Broccoli with Penne – divine!   The ONE item I’m offering that’s slightly Irish definitely has my own spin on it: Stuffed Green Peppers with Colcannon and our Homemade Irish Garlic Sausage! I make my Colcannon with Kale ’cause I love it so.   Floyd is even getting in on the St. Patty’s Day fun – check out his photo below!

Did you KNOW that Corned Beef isn’t even an Irish tradition?  It is Irish American though – when the Irish came here they sourced Corned Beef as a substitute for salt pork.  Our closest relative, bacon, was too expensive for the immigrant’s pocketbook so they settled on Corned Beef as a similarly salty substitute.

The birds ARE nesting and the warmth of the sun has kissed my skin.   I am wishing for all that with the passage of each day, we feel safer and more love than ever before!

His Royal Hinee The Crown Prince Floyd Wong is IRISH FOR A DAY!  He even eats green VEGGIES.  You can see what my sous chef Floyd helped create here.  Love…it’s What’s For DINNER!

Showers and Birthdays and Parties, Oh MY!

Menu on the Cusp For You!

Spring has sprung, the grass is riz, and we know where the parties is!  Behold our fantastically beautiful and delicious Shrimp, Asparagus, and Sweet Pea Risotto!  We start with our take on Risi e Bisi (a humble Italian Rice and Pea stew), using pea pods to make the broth.  With asparagus at its peak, I just couldn’t resist these beautiful colors and flavors evocative of spring.  Our hearty Hanky Panky Stew is back by demand as is our Beef Stroganoff – some of you are still yearning for the deep flavors of winter. There is SO. MUCH. MORE. on our take-out/delivery menu for 3/10; check it out!   Lula’s version of Chicken Saltimbocca is sure to make your mouth water.

Celebrations just simply cannot be stopped – the celebration of births and nuptials is HAPPENING (safely, of course), and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of it!  Check out our LulaMallorca below – aged Manchego and Serrano Ham on a flaky croissant, brushed with a dark rum sugar glaze. This and other finger foods will be enjoyed this weekend at a real PARTY!!!
