Lula ‘aka’ Lori Pierce

Chef Lori Pierce (Lula) has been delighting palates with her unique, boutique creations in the Greater Cincinnati area for over 25 years. A native of the Deep South and eager student of global gastronomy, Chef Lori has called Cincinnati home since moving here in 1982 to attend UC's College Conservatory of Music on a piano performance scholarship. Chef Lori believes her love for the creative arts as well as world travel has led to her continued success in the kitchen. Chef Lori's contribution to recipe development for companies such as Kraft, Nestle, Unilever and McCormick (to name a few), as well as constant honing of her skills through education, keeps her on the cutting edge of contemporary cuisine, while always employing a classical approach. Master Classes in Costa Rica, Mexico and throughout Europe have inspired Chef Lori to create unique fusion dishes to excite and stimulate both your mouth and your mind!

Chef Lori also teaches custom culinary classes, such as the fun "Aphrodisiac Dinner" class. She even instructed the national chain restaurant Texas Roadhouse in steak preparation! Lula's was the first caterer in the region to recognize the need and desire for farm to table practices and to utilize such methods. Chef Lori believes in Scratch, Local, and Seasonal preparation coming from sustainable supplies. Even her breads, condiments, sauces, etc., are homemade! If you're lucky, you'll be eating "Flash Bread," a 3-day wild yeast sourdough from Chef Lori's amazing husband, Gordon. An omnivore, she eats and serves protein that has lived a good life. Most veggies, herbs, eggs and beef come from either her back yard, her father-in-law's farm, or other local purveyors - but the first ingredient in EVERY dish is always love. This is a primary reason Lula's was chosen to prepare a meal for the White House Staff in 2012.

A firm believer in giving back, the presence of Lula's Catering can be seen and felt throughout the region - a practice for which Chef Lori was recognized by the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce in 2013, and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce in 2020. If you are a charitable organization, please contact us to see how we can help. A regular contributor to several publications, Chef Lori is a sought-after guest on several local affiliate television stations, including "In Lula's Kitchen" on Good Morning Cincinnati. Chef Lori also publishes kitchen tips and tidbits in her weekly blog found at: Lula's Blog.
