Summer AND Fall MENU – the Best of Both Worlds!

Does this picture make your mouth water?  It SHOULD.  A bite of this End of Summer Tomato Pie is heaven on earth.  I have in my possession from Cane Creek Farm some of the richest, fruitiest heirloom tomatoes you have ever tasted.  I throw in a little southern magic, and a bite just might make you cry.  In a good way.  You can order it from our MENU this week along with our Creamy Goat Cheese & Pistachio Risotto (see picture below!) which you can enjoy with Shrimp if you’d like.  I also got my hands on some oxtail, so I thought with the weather turning a bit next week I’d throw some stew on the menu!  In case you’re wondering…Oxtail Stew is not really the tail of an ox. 🙂 But it IS densely loaded with iron and other nutrients to build up your immune system. And don’t forget it’s only me touching the food so it’ll be handed to you in pristine condition and you can enjoy worry free.

Did you know I can tailor a menu to help you recover from whatever’s ailing you?  You’d never know it but these selections are helping heal 3 people this week – two bone/ligament injuries and diverticulitis!

Click this MENU to check out Lula’s offerings for pickup or delivery 8/31.  Let the healing begin!

Luscious End of Summer Tomatoes on our MENU!

Well I feel BETTER.  A quick visit down south with family, some down-home cooking, fresh EVERYthing from Cane Creek Farm, even a “walk” in the pool!!  As you know I’m a vampire so as much as I enjoyed the sun for 5 minutes, I REALLY enjoyed the formidable black clouds rolling in over the mountains, the change of the smell of the air, and the quickening of the leaves and grass all around us.  Yes, the pool sits atop a hill surrounded by mountains.  Gorgeous.  We brought back bounty and you can find it on this week’s menu.  Our gorgeous Caprese Panzanella with your choice of Mediterranean Chicken or Garlic Shrimp makes use of practically EVERY variety of heirloom tomato and fresh basil.  And we’ve turned our Roasted Sweet Potato Salad into an entree with the addition of Tico Chicken!  And for some ooey gooey we’re whipping spinach into a cheesy entree casserole – either vegetarian or with our Roasted Chicken (see pic below!).  It’s only me touching the food so it’ll be handed to you in pristine condition and you can enjoy worry free.

Life continues to spring forth and a baby shower this week proves it.   I’ve also been privileged again to help feed Master Provisions, the non-profit that feeds and clothes the world, with the generosity of Advancing Nonprofits LLC .  I am also privileged to support the USO Central and Southern Ohio in their efforts to feed the Ohio Army National Guard.   Grace is dwelling amongst us and if we continue to search, and act, we will find a little each day.

Click this MENU to check out Lula’s offerings for pickup or delivery 8/26.   It is my hope that you find a little bit of grace in eating my food.

Client FAVORITES from our Menu and White Glove Grazing

My peeps, I’m having a hard time.  It’s been a rough week!  I’m not known for “bad days” but the world is finally weighing on me to the point I need to vent.  While nourishing you and yours is my first joy and I’ll never stop cooking for you (click this MENU for next week’s selections!) I’m just DOWN.  I want to believe in the best humanity has to offer, but organizations taking advantage of our society’s weakened state, corporations not offering safety above all else in this environment and instead worshipping the almighty dollar, and a general stress (FINALLY, for me, because I LOVE being alone) of not sharing community in person has me on EDGE.  I believe mother earth is trying to heal herself and we’re making it very hard for her to do so. STILL, she brings forth sustenance, and I’m being as creative as I can in bringing it to you.   And nobody, as you well know, touches my food but me so it’ll be handed to you in pristine condition and you can enjoy worry free!!

I am privileged this week to welcome a new life into the world and help the new family in the kitchen, and in a couple of weeks I’ll be celebrating TWINS with another couple!  In honor of this please enjoy the bounty of this baby shower spread.  New life springs forth even in the midst of pandemics.  And BELOW…please salivate over one of this week’s offerings – the picture is in appetizer form, but please know you can have our Satay Chicken or Shrimp anytime you want in casserole form, with noodles of your choice – gluten free or otherwise.

Click this MENU to check out Lula’s offerings for pickup or delivery 8/12.  I just can’t get away from our Lemon Arugula Pasta Salad – people love it so much they keep asking for it, but don’t forget to try something new once in a while!

Eco Info Part 6 of 6! – Carbon Footprint

OK, so these aren’t “carbon” footprints, but they might as well be, because they’re human, and we produce carbon.  In the foodservice industry, an establishment’s carbon footprint is impacted by its use of greenhouse gases, which are emitted by generated waste, water consumption, and transportation.  Restaurants (and caterers!) can minimize their carbon footprints by reevaluating their energy consumption, using sustainable packaging, and reducing waste.

Gordon (the the fabulous hubby) makes fun of me because I reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as I can.  I guess it did start out as a memory imprint from my mother, who, being raised in the great depression, learned from HER mother to waste nothing.  Little did I know it would become so necessary for the survival of the human race!  If you’d like more “eco info” – common terms explained, peruse the back issues of Lula’s blog from the last couple of months.  And I’m here for questions too!  So go ahead and leave your footprints in the sand…they wash away and you’re having no harmful impact!!  With love, ALWAYS, with love, Lula!
